We’ve had people enter Maymorn plantation forest during intensive harvesting operations despite the extensive signs and warnings. While anyone can make mistakes, this behaviour is deliberate and reckless.
A 48ha block of mature trees around Maymorn is being harvested and this will continue through to Christmas. GWRC and PF Olsen have done everything we can to ensure visitor safety and part-access to the forest during the harvesting. All the information is on our website – please use it to plan your trip. This will allow us to park at the start of the walking route across county. Although this is an easy walk there is a moderate hill climb to start & some smaller up/down sections. Because of the gate arrangements all vehicles will return at the same time. Friends & guests welcome

Police were called about 10.50am to a report of a man having entered the pharmacy armed with a craft knife. He made off with a small amount of prescription medication.
