Severe weather warning - strong winds expected
Northwest gales are expected over much of eastern and central parts of the South Island during Saturday, including Wellington. A warning for severe northwest gales is now in force for the Canterbury High Country, Marlborough, Wellington and the Wairarapa.
Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

Valid: 14 hours from 11:00am Saturday to 1:00am Sunday
Forecast: Severe northwest gales in exposed places, gusting 120km/h at times
