Water treatment diversion outlet
Have you been for a walk along the Hutt River recently, near Queens Drive, and noticed the new water treatment diversion outlet?
This outfall is part of the construction around the pipeline for ultraviolet (UV) treatment at Waterloo. Water that cannot be treated by UV at Waterloo is diverted and discharged into the Hutt River at this outlet.
Work around the pipeline is nearly complete. Roads works around the CBD/central residential area finished in early January 2018. There are still some minor activities taking place until the end of January around the Waterloo treatment plant, as we finish the final stages of the pump upgrades.
For more information about the UV pipeline check out wellingtonwater.co.nz... and don't forget to check out the info sign by the water treatment diversion outlet next time you're walking by the Hutt River (near Queens Drive).
