Neighbourly Good Sort: Kieran Houssenloge

Reporter Community News

Petone Engineering employee Kieran Houssenloge was recently recognised as New Zealand’s highest achieving young person in the structural steel industry.
Steel Construction NZ’s (SCNZ’s) Young Achiever of the Year award celebrates those whose skills, drive and willingness to learn has helped them to achieve outstanding outcomes.
It recognises well-rounded people who demonstrate not only talent, but display traits important to the industry – commitment, innovation and agility.
Kieran credits a good attitude, professional approach and old-fashioned hard work for his success. The Production Manager and Workshop Supervisor says he comes from a hard-working family, and his upbringing instilled a good work ethic in him.
“If you didn’t do the mahi you weren’t the favourite for the week,” says Kieran.
One of Kieran's early challenges was successfully managing the fabrication of 30 K-frames that Petone Engineering made for the Chinese Embassy in Wellington.
Kieran says he’s honoured to be recognised for what he’s achieved and hopes that he can inspire others to set goals to strive for.

Speed limits around NaeNae

Susan from Naenae

Hi Neighbors, Just a heads up, I have just received a $170 fine for driving at 50km on Rata Street Naenae on a SUNDAY Morning. I wrote to NZTA pointing out and sending in a photo of sign stating that it was 30km on school days between those hours, but they said that the whole of Rata Street and some surrounding streets are 30km 24/7 and have been for over a year. Did I miss this been advised by council? Always good to be informed. Merry Christmas to all
