"Over the last few weeks, Charlie and I have been keeping an eye on the progress of a bird's nest just by our house. Today, the nest was empty only 20 days later – the birds had all fledged and were hanging about like teenagers in the trees around our garden. Well done mummy thrush; you've been an inspiration."
