Discover a new wine at New World
"Kia ora – James Lough from New World Porirua here. Keen to discover a new top drop in time for summer?
My favourite wine from this year’s New World Wine Awards is the Tohu Single Vineyard Riesling and for many reasons! First, it’s delicious with a zingy acidity. Secondly, it has a great story - all wine should start a conversation and the people behind this wine and their governance of the land give you plenty of that. Lastly, the wine sums up what the New World Wine Awards is all about: helping customers discover new wines that surprise and delight.” And Bob Dunkerly from New World Thorndon’s pick is the Stoneleigh Latitude Marlborough Chardonnay. “It’s an excellent wine, with delicious stone fruit flavours. It’s very approachable for anyone wanting to give Chardonnay a try.”

🌐 NZ Internet Experiment – Live Chat Tonight
Hi everyone,
I built a simple live chat website as a small social experiment to see something interesting:
Do people still enjoy talking to strangers online like in the early internet days?
Before social media algorithms, there were places where you could just jump in and talk to random people — a bit like the old days of MSN / IRC style chat rooms.
So I created a very simple space where anyone can join and chat live with whoever shows up.
🧪 The experiment:
Tonight at 8pm NZ time I’ll open the chat to see who joins and what kind of conversations happen.
There are no profiles, no algorithms, no feeds — just a live chat room and whoever happens to be there.
If you're curious, you can join here:
chat-wh.lovable.app...
Feel free to: • say hello
• ask strangers random questions
• meet people from around NZ
• or just observe the chaos 😄
If something funny or interesting happens, feel free to screenshot and share it.
And if you want to help the experiment, invite a friend and see who turns up tonight.
I'm genuinely curious to see what happens.
Let’s see if the old internet magic still works.
Poll: Are you still heading to your local for your caffeine fix, or has the $$ changed your habits? ☕
Wellington’s identity is built on its cafe culture, but with costs climbing, that culture is under pressure. We’ve seen the headlines about recent closures, and it’s a tough pill to swallow along with a $6+ coffee.
We all want our favourite spots to stay open, but we also have to balance our own budgets ⚖️
We want to know: How are you handling the "coffee math" in 2026? Are you still heading to your local for a chat and a caffeine fix, or has the cost of living changed your habits?
Keen to read more about "coffee math"? The Post has you covered.
-
46.5% I avoid spending money on coffee
-
40.3% I still indulge at my local cafe
-
13.2% Irrelevant - coffee is not for me
Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕
Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!
Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫
