Poll: Are you still heading to your local for your caffeine fix, or has the $$ changed your habits? โ
Wellingtonโs identity is built on its cafe culture, but with costs climbing, that culture is under pressure. Weโve seen the headlines about recent closures, and itโs a tough pill to swallow along with a $6+ coffee.
We all want our favourite spots to stay open, but we also have to balance our own budgets โ๏ธ
We want to know: How are you handling the "coffee math" in 2026? Are you still heading to your local for a chat and a caffeine fix, or has the cost of living changed your habits?

๐ NZ Internet Experiment โ Live Chat Tonight
Hi everyone,
I built a simple live chat website as a small social experiment to see something interesting:
Do people still enjoy talking to strangers online like in the early internet days?
Before social media algorithms, there were places where you could just jump in and talk to random people โ a bit like the old days of MSN / IRC style chat rooms.
So I created a very simple space where anyone can join and chat live with whoever shows up.
๐งช The experiment:
Tonight at 8pm NZ time Iโll open the chat to see who joins and what kind of conversations happen.
There are no profiles, no algorithms, no feeds โ just a live chat room and whoever happens to be there.
If you're curious, you can join here:
chat-wh.lovable.app...
Feel free to: โข say hello
โข ask strangers random questions
โข meet people from around NZ
โข or just observe the chaos ๐
If something funny or interesting happens, feel free to screenshot and share it.
And if you want to help the experiment, invite a friend and see who turns up tonight.
I'm genuinely curious to see what happens.
Letโs see if the old internet magic still works.

Whether itโs a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, donโt let those garden gems go to waste!
Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? ๐ซ
