Karma Keg - Maungaraki Richmond Scouts Jamboree Fundraiser

Christine from Maungaraki

Maungaraki Richmond Scouts are raising funds to send 23 Scouts to the NZ Scout Jamboree in December. On Saturday May 25 the Scouts are holding a Karma Keg fundraiser. At the Karma Keg, a 50L keg of craft beer generously donated by Baylands Brewery will be tapped at 3 pm. Patrons are invited to pay what they think is "karmically fair" for a pint -- hopefully at least $10, but a generous contribution to the Scouts will come around with good karma for the donor. At 5:00 pm, all the proceeds from the beer sales will be given to the Scouts toward their Jamboree registration fees.

Please spread the word - tell all your friends, family and work mates, and come to the Queen of Jackson on Saturday 25 May between 3-5 pm to enjoy a great craft beer and donate to a worthy cause.
Cash only – you pay for your beer by putting money in the jar. We will also be running a raffle and silent auctions.

Start your evening with good karma – raise a glass to support the Scouts then enjoy the rest of the night knowing you are in harmony with the universe. Queen of Jackson is a family restaurant; children are welcome to attend.

The Riddler from The Neighbourly Riddler

A person is crossing a bridge and sees a boat full of people, yet there isn't a single person on board.

Got more greens than you know what to do with? 🥦🌱🥕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Whether it’s a courgette takeover or a feijoa frenzy, don’t let those garden gems go to waste!

Our suggestion to you: Did you know you can grate and freeze excess courgettes to use in chocolate cake later? It sounds a bit dodgy, but it makes the cake incredibly moist ... and hey, it counts as a serving of veg, right? 🍫

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Wellington’s identity is built on its cafe culture, but with costs climbing, that culture is under pressure. We’ve seen the headlines about recent closures, and it’s a tough pill to swallow along with a $6+ coffee.

We all want our favourite spots to stay open, but we also have to balance our own budgets ⚖️

We want to know: How are you handling the "coffee math" in 2026? Are you still heading to your local for a chat and a caffeine fix, or has the cost of living changed your habits?

Keen to read more about "coffee math"? The Post has you covered.
