All those lights in the new plans for the Melling Interchange.

Hugo from Epuni

Yes the intersections are going to have too much traffic on them because transit are putting all the present Block Rd traffic into the intersection instead of running that south bound Pharazyn St. traffic under the bridge as is done now. The free left turn on to the bridge is run into a traffic light system too. We are all going to be held up at lights that don’t need to exist. Take the lights away and put in different lanes to separate out traffic as we have now. Make it safer and make it flow.
I think of it as another Hutt Road snarl up. When you look at Kapiti Rd Paraparamumu it now has traffic lights everywhere to slow you down. That express way is to blame for they have all appeared after that was built.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
