Swimmers ignoring call to stay out of the Hutt River to avoid toxic algae
A call to stay out of the Hutt River to avoid exposure to toxic algae is being ignored by swimmers.
Last week, Greater Wellington Regional Council warned toxic algae levels had reached a point where it was dangerous for swimmers.
Swimmers were urged to avoid the Hutt River between Moonshine and Fairway Drive bridges, and the Pakuratahi River from State Highway 2 to where it meets Kaitoke Regional Park. Read more
