Hi, I am a Maungaraki local raising money for Mothers Helpers. This charity helps mums who are experiencing post-natal depression or anxiety. I have committed to raising $10,000 (you can see more here: givealittle.co.nz... or www.mothershelpers.co.nz...).

I am also personally committed to supporting a reduction in our landfill waste. One way to do this is to promote recycling.

I am offering to deliver recycling bins and/or nets to your house in Maungaraki and surrounding areas. I am also happy to attach nets to bins and give you a demonstration of how to use the net.

For every bin or net that you purchase, $5 will go towards the Mothers Helpers charity.

55 litre recycling bin: $20 delivered
Flexinet: $20 delivered

To order bins and/or nets, please email me direct at hanacraig@gmail.com.

Some more information:

The flexinet is designed to prevent the contents of recycling bins blowing away in the wind. These nets help keep streets tidy and reduce debris from blocking drains and causing flooding.

It is also good to have two or more bins. In a survey of Korokoro residents who had two recycling bins:

- 88 per cent of respondents used the second recycling bins

- 78 per cent found two bins made recycling easier, mostly due to the increased capacity but also the ability to sort the recycling

- 27 per cent found the second bin caused them to recycle more in terms of volume than just having one bin

- 57 per cent found that the second bin reduced windblown litter

Thanks for your support!

Last weekend brought some wild weather! 🌧🌩☔️
We saw a number of roads affected by surface flooding as well as a number of wastewater overflows throughout the region.

When too much water gets into wastewater pipes it can overflow into the natural environment, typically during periods of heavy rainfall. We recommend you do not swim for two days following a heavy rainfall event. This is to not only protect you from contaminants from stormwater runoff, but also potential wastewater overflows.

She lacked self-confidence. ‘‘I had a negative mind set in which I had beliefs that I would never be successful at anything, with a very low self-esteem. ‘‘I made excuses because I had no motivation and little confidence and I let life pass me by even if it was a wonderful opportunity because I was so afraid of the unknown.’’

Not anymore! Prasad, 18, and the youngest in a family of five, is now working as a caregiver while studying a foundation course at NZMA for occupational therapy and has realised she ‘‘could do anything’’. She is the first in her family to go to university. The South Auckland teen has found her potential with the help of our Foundation that aims to transform young Kiwi lives.
