Our waterways and all the fish and species that live in them are precious taonga, so we have set out to understand how they are valued and what should be done to provide the future we want for our water. I am a conduit to Ngāti Toa Rangatira mana whenua on the Whaitua Committee. I am looking forward to working with Ngāti Toa mana whenua and you to shape the future of our water.

Our population is growing fast and placing more pressure waste and stormwater infrastructure. Some of our waterways have high levels of E-coli and other illness causing bacteria for anyone who ingests them. We need your help in protecting the health and mauri of our waterways, for us and for our children , which are under pressure due to increasing population and land development.

Fixing the waste and stormwater infrastructure is costly. Help us to find solutions that are fair and equitable. These are big changes, and needs to reflect our communities’ views informed by good evidence and information.

Connect with us to talk about what we can do together. You can reach us at whaitua@gw.govt.nz. To see what we have been doing visit our Facebook page (www.facebook.com...), and to share what you value about our water and your solutions have your say (www.haveyoursay.gw.gov.nz...)

I’ve been teaching Spanish for the last twelve years both in language schools and privately, in Germany, Perú, and in the last three years in Newtown. I just moved to Lower Hutt a couple of weeks ago and I'll be starting Spanish group classes every Monday from March 9 onwards (except public holidays) at the Russell Keown House in Lower Hutt (1 Knights Road, entrance on Queens Drive).

For people interested in learning Spanish or consolidating their knowledge or maybe for those would like to sharpen up their conversational skills, I'll have three classes:

6.00-7.00pm Spanish for beginners
7.00-8.00pm Pre-Intermediate Spanish
8.00-9.00pm Conversational Spanish (for people that already have around an intermediate level of Spanish)

$15 per class or $65 for five classes.

If you're looking for a private class, these are available for $40-50 per hour in Lower Hutt.

Contact me to register and also feel free to ask for more information :)

Muchos saludos
Maribel

Pioneering retirement for a trailblazing generation

They live their lives with passion and purpose. They strive to push further, create better, and go beyond the ordinary. We are pioneering a new way to live in retirement. One with flexibility, certainty, and the ability to dial care up and down as you need it.

Ryman has been pioneering retirement living for 35 years. Our New Zealand and Australian villages are named after trailblazers: Sir Edmund Hilary, Weary Dunlop, Rita Angus, Nellie Melba. We always have, and always will, challenge the status quo and adapt to better serve our residents.

Paul's painting features a rock wren and he titled it 'High Noon' in order to draw our attention to their plight. With warming temperatures, these tiny birds are under increasing threat due to predators moving higher up the slopes due to warming temperatures. Apparently this little bird is our only true alpine bird. The exhibition features a wealth of work in original paintings, prints an sculptures and if you love our birds like our artists do, then this exhibition is a must see.
