Pakuratahi Forest news

Community Engagement Advisor from Greater Wellington Regional Council

Felling of a section of the forest continues, but due to the nature of the process we’ll be delaying the weekday re-opening of Tunnel Drive (from Maymorn Gate through to the other side of the tunnel) for a few weeks. This is to allow for work continuing either side of the Drive, meaning it’s not yet safe for public access.

Health and safety is our number one concern so until work moves away from this area it will have to remain closed on weekdays. You can still access the area on weekends.

We’ll keep you updated through social media, and will announce the weekday reopening of Tunnel Drive on our website.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
