Friends of Belmont Regional Park - Springtime Walk

Mary Bisset from Friends of Belmont Regional Park Inc

Boulder Hill Bushwalk & Panorama - Sat 19 Oct 10.30 am

To get there:
• take the Kelson exit from SH2 & follow Major Drive approx 2.5km
• turn left into Kaitangata Cres., & continue about 1.2km to GW carpark on left just beyond a power pylon; meet here by the noticeboards
• if the carpark is full, park on the roadside in Kaitangata Cres (not on the private road uphill from the carpark).

We did a recce last weekend & suggest you allow 2.5 hours up & back (might depend on weather & how long we linger at the summit!)
• family, friends, visitors welcome (no dogs please)
• bring wind/waterproof jacket (just in case)+ drink, snack/lunch
• medium fitness + suitable footwear needed (climb on way up).

Updates re weather to be posted here; backup Sun 20 Oct.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
