Metlink appears to have been blindsided by a Hutt City Council report that an overbridge is earthquake prone and a potential threat to the rail network.

A report to Hutt City councillors on Monday noted that the Cuba St Overbridge is being undermined and could fail in a moderate earthquake.

The overbridge is used by 18,000 cars and trucks a day, and is one of the main arterial routes in the city, taking traffic from central Lower Hutt to Petone. The Wairarapa/Upper Hutt rail network runs under the bridge. Annually it carries 570,000 commuters and 370,000 tonnes of freight.

It’s no longer just about saying goodbye to work - it’s now an opportunity to try something new or keep doing what you love. Rather than hanging up their hats, many of today’s retirees are redefining this phase by staying active through part-time jobs, volunteering, or even launching new careers.

Living in a retirement village doesn’t necessarily mean you’re done with work either; rather, it offers the opportunity to explore different activities, pursue long-held passions, and discover new interests.
