Older Man in white Van approaching children ..

Diane from Waiwhetu

I have decided to also put this on the Main noticeboard as well as in crime and safety board , so that plenty of people see it with children returning to school next week ..

This is NOT my post below I have Copied and pasted it to here from the mother of one of the girls ... But some of you might remember me posting about 16 months ago about someone with the same description lurking by the school across from me {Our lady of the Rosary} and whom I reported to the police at the time ...

WARNING
Warning to Hutt Valley parents please share ..... my daughter and her friend were accosted by a man in a white van today in the wainui area. You would think that two children walking to the end of the street and back together would be safe .... but no .....this deviant drove past did a u-turn parked and then tried to coerce the girls over. He then exited his vehicle and approached them. The girls thought quickly and ran up a nearby drive. Luckily people were home and came to their assistance. In the meantime this man has run to his vehicle and sped off. A real giveaway that he was up to no good.

If you know someone of this description please ring wainui community constable 04 2123581 and quote P030225701. Man approx 50s white hair and white goatee/beard. Tall and medium build. Driving white van, tinted windows and black roof racks.

This may not seem like a big deal as nothing truly bad eventuated and the girls are thankfully safe. But maybe the next child won't be so lucky so it's worth following up if you know something .....

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
