"I discovered a bellbird/korimako or two as I went on my daily walk. One of them was happy to make lots of noise as I snapped away at it!

Kereru, as usual, were everywhere including in a wheelbarrow!
The sparrows were caught having a good old dust bath.
Mr Duck was out by himself and full of chatter as I walked by him.
Although it was still very cold, it was nice to feel the rays of the sun on me!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Male paradise shelducks play a very active role in looking after their offspring and are famous for their pretend broken wing displays to lure predators away from their young.

These guys, with demonic red eyes and about two-thirds the size of a mallard, like to perch up trees to rest – they like nothing better than an almost horizontal branch or tree trunk stretched out over calm water for a siesta. It’s like they don’t like having wet feet. If I were a duck I would be a grey teal/tētē moroiti (Anas gracilis).
