Council is paying the living wage
The Hutt City Council has become a fully accredited living wage provider.
The workers that repair the roads, clean the streets, and collect rubbish and recycling will now be paid at least $22.75 an hour.
Hutt City is the third council to become fully-accredited after Wellington in 2018 and Dunedin in 2019. The council resolved to pay the living wage to its staff in 2018. Accreditation means all contractors will be paying their staff at least $22.75.
