Kia Ora, I’m Brady Dyer, a local candidate standing for re-election as a city-wide councillor. At this years election you can choose up to six city-wide councillors, so I’m trying to rally a bit of homegrown support from my neighbours. I love living in this part of our city, and have really enjoyed making new friends since buying our first home here just over a year ago. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
