Toxic algae warning
Warm weather and low river flows have created the perfect conditions for toxic algae to flourish. Anybody swimming in the Hutt River or any of its tributaries is being urged to look out for algae.
Large mats of black toxic algae have been spotted in the Hutt River and on the Pakuratahi River at Kaitoke.
Remember algae is particularly dangerous for dogs, so keep you dog on a lead.
