Heavy snow watch

Neighbourly.co.nz

MetService has issued a heavy snow watch for the inland area from South Canterbury's Rangitata River to Wanaka and Naseby in Otago, for this evening.

MetService urges South Cantabrians to secure outdoor possessions ahead of the wind, rain and snow. Snow is expected as low as 300 metres, with the heaviest above 500m.

The NZ Transport Agency advises people to check the agency's Twitter feed for information relating to road closures before setting off on any journey.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
