Saturday openings
For the first time since opening in 1991, our office will be open on Saturdays.
Trained volunteers and JPs will be available for clients from our launch on August 12.
“If we can make it easier for clients with hours outside of our current limited mid-week ones, including for visitors and tourists, that would be great. It also covers at least two of our membership principles- Accessibility and Accountability,” says manager Rani Timoti.
Saturday openings from 10am to noon could also open the door to potential volunteers who work during the week.
Depending on how this goes, hours may change, other groups or special theme days could be introduced.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
