BOI Vintage Railway
Gabriel, built in 1927, is the only working steam engine of its kind in the world.
How lucky we are to have a band of volunteers who have given thousands of hours over the years to not only restore the railway track & bridges, battered by storms & floods, but they've also restored Gabriel & other diesel engines, carriages & buildings.
Along the way, they have trained young people into jobs & attracted a lovely group of young people to help out.
It must have made all that hard work worthwhile today when they saw all those young kids (& adults too) buzzing with excitement to take a ride on that famous train.
It's got to be one of the most unique bike trails around when you can take your bike on the train & connect with the cycle trail.
Thrilled that we were part of the occasion today & can't wait for the Minerva steam boat to take to the waters later on this year.
Well done to our volunteers.
