Oceania has always believed in better and so does Meadowbankโ€™s new Care Manager, Suzette Vorster.

Having worked in Aged Care for several years, Suzetteโ€™s favourite thing about her work has remained the same โ€“ giving back to those whoโ€™ve done so much for Aotearoa.

โ€œOur residents have a lifetime of knowledge and have worked hard in often difficult times. I see it as such a privilege to be in a position to lead a team of people who are passionate about caring for them.โ€

Suzetteโ€™s recipe for great care is simple. โ€œGreat care means meeting a residentโ€™s daily needs with empathy and warmth โ€“ to deliver the kind of care that anyone would want their Mum or Dad to have.โ€

Sheโ€™s excited to take on a new challenge in our vibrant village beside Orakei Basin.

โ€œMeadowbank is a beautiful siteโ€“ itโ€™s a place anyone would feel proud to live in and a place families enjoy visiting.

Our Care Suites provide a feeling of independence within the comfort and security of exceptional 24/7, round-the-clock care.โ€ And her vision for Meadowbank goes beyond brick and mortar.

โ€œThe heart of it is the people โ€“ staff who provide empathy and love, and residents who live their years to the fullest.โ€

To learn more about our Care Suites with Rest Home and Hospital level care, get in touch with Suzette today.

Meet Hinerangi Busby who shares her journey with Te Whare Wฤnanga o Awanuiฤrangi.

I am a graduate of the marae-centred programme, Te Pouhono, transforming Mฤori communities, promoting mฤtauranga-a-hapลซ, a-iwi. My participation took me to the Bachelor of Mฤtauranga Mฤori, and then postgraduate study.

Awanuiฤrangi centres you. This is the nurturing space of Mฤori researchers, with the support of academic and professional staff; this all transpires from an authentic indigenous and traditional Mฤori environment.

My studies have empowered me to play a more pro-active role in whฤnau and hapลซ affairs. Instead of being angry at a past that we cannot change, letโ€™s become part of the solution for positive change.

Local groups in west Auckland are โ€œbitterly disappointedโ€ after resource consent was granted in relation to the replacement of a water treatment plant. They claim Auckland Council ignored expert advice on the risks for the project to spread kauri dieback disease.

Watercare had applied for resource consent to carry out earthworks and vegetation removal for the upcoming replacement of the Huia Water Treatment Plant.

Titirangi Protection Groupโ€™s (TPG) spokeswoman Belynda Groot said โ€œitโ€™s totally wrongโ€ for consent to be given after abundant evidence from kauri dieback and ecology experts at the resource consent hearing in April this year advised against the build.
