Southland woman to attempt world record for shearing sheep

While most of us are still asleep at 5am on Thursday, Megan Whitehead will begin her attempt at claiming a second world shearing record, in a woolshed on the side of the Hokonui Hills near Gore.

She is attempting the solo women’s nine-hours strongwool lamb shearing record of 648, (72 an hour) set in November 2007 by Waikato shearer Emily Welch.
