Bee education programme a first for Southland
A new bee education programme that's a first for Southland will be launched at Limehills School next week.
Coordinated by the Southland Bee Society, in conjunction with Environment Southland, the school has been given its own bees to take care of as part of a trial educational programme aimed at teaching children about the importance of the insects.
Teacher Kirsty Smith said Limehills School students had long had a passion for bees, studying them over several years.
