So if you asleep you missed it but that is OK , I witnessed it for you.. It was a fantastic moment in time but then came the realisation that it is all downhill from here until 21st of June. Hasn't the weather been great this spring / summer so far and long may it continue.
I am going to show you all a picture of my thigh with bandage and a round bullet hole blood stain. Something about my wife shooting me whilst shouting , "Happy wife , happy life " which is probably better than Allah Akbar which she normally shouts . Have you heard anything so ridiculous , the bit about happy wife dah dah dah .. not the Allah Akbah bit. She does speak Arabic and both Chinese languages and Korean as well as Filipino languages , no wonder I don't understand a word she says which is probably why we had this happy wife episode. Well of course most of you women will be saying so what is so wrong about shooting your husband occasionally and what can I say to that except " do you have a gun nearby" Anyway getting back to that bullet hole which she says was an accident but that glazed stare tells me I don't think so. In her favor she did take me to the hospital . They stitched me up and my wife then took me for a coffee , which I had to pay for , so none of this isn't she really good to you rubbish. I was going to ask for lots of sympathy but in all honesty I can't see that forth coming even though this is the time of the year for giving and all that. Well now I suppose I have to tell you the reason for the start about summer solstice which is why i am here. No my wife didn't shoot me although that would have been exciting again. No she didn't , that was a long time ago ( 38 years to be exact )and by several people but that is another story although in part it does explain why I am what I am today. No that bullet hole is really where a doctor at the hospital removed a growth that came about as a result of running around for nearly two decades wearing shorts in Australia , Africa and Asia. Somewhere along the line the sun got me which is nowhere as bad as the sun we get down here . Moral of the story is today being the longest day and sunny be careful out there or years down the track you might have to explain why your partner shot you.
Merry Christmas and enjoy not only that day but every other day as well no matter what it throws at you.

Last summer we embarked on an ambitious project to make a dent in the wasp population in the Nelson region. We fundraised and were able to lay 390km of bait lines in some of the region's most popular recreational areas, effectively making 10,000 hectares wasp free.

This summer we are delighted to announce we are expanding the programme to other parts of the country which are also affected by high wasp numbers. Vespex is laid in bait stations in late January and February when wasps change to a protein-based diet. It is of low toxicity and safe for bees. Results from last summer showed it has a 95%-99% success rate.

While a small amount of work is Government funded, we're going to raise more funds to get as many areas baited as possible, and we need your help. Go to our Popshop page to contribute to a wasp-free region

So join us in the battle. The more we raise the more areas we can cover.
