Homelessness growing in Southland but so is the help
A growing number of Southland families are in need of accommodation, and now they’ve got two new champions in their corner to help them find homes.
Both the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and national trust Emerge Aotearoa have established teams in Invercargill to help whānau navigate rental markets and secure their own tenancies.
The Southland Housing Action Forum housing champion Anna Stevens said the groups had made a big difference, circumventing situations where families may have ended up in emergency or social housing.
