ACC psychology and mental health manager Doctor Kris Fernando said it was not unusual for people who had experienced a serious injury to have problems coping emotionally.

Individuals recovering from an injury were at risk of developing psychological and mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and stress reactions - especially for those facing a lengthy recovery period, she said.

The purpose-built 50 square metre commercial kitchen is incorporated in the South Alive community hub, which was announced in September 2016.
