Beloved family cat mauled by wandering dog

Lynda from South Invercargill & Bluff

To every person living around Dunbeath Cres in the Kew/Kingswell area.
Yesterday afternoon between 4pm and 5pm a dog strayed onto my 27yr old son’s property in Dunbeath Cres. Our gorgeous elderly cat was sleeping on the stones in her front garden when a dog grabbed her back end, thrashed her about, breaking her back, crushing her pelvis and destroying her back legs. Needless to say our darling had to be put down. We are devastated. This was a big dog with a wide jaw. (Puncture marks told the story). Could all dog owners please make sure that your property is secured so your dog can’t wander on their own. If children walk through a gate, double check with them that it is shut properly and the dog can’t get out. To all cat owners, love them dearly, after all, they may not be able to make it back in through your door.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
