ACC psychology and mental health manager Doctor Kris Fernando said it was not unusual for people who had experienced a serious injury to have problems coping emotionally.

Individuals recovering from an injury were at risk of developing psychological and mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and stress reactions - especially for those facing a lengthy recovery period, she said.

The non-profit organisation that provides training in hospitality and horticulture for people with a disability is getting ready to move into a commercial kitchen.
The purpose-built 50 square metre commercial kitchen is incorporated in the South Alive community hub, which was announced in September 2016.

The company is looking for people to audition for its musical production Sister Act.
The musical, based on the 1992 Whoopi Goldberg film, features music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken and will be directed by Stephen Robertson with musical direction by Michael Buick.
Invercargill Musical Theatre vice president Bernadette Gourley said despite having different music the production still had a diva and soul sister feel.

You can be involved in this valuable work too. Our Annual Street Appeal this year will be held from 27th February – 05th March and I invite you to support our appeal by giving up two hours of your time to collect of us on either Thursday 02nd or Friday 03rd March.
Our sites will be open between 8:30am and 5pm.
Your contribution to our appeal will enable our local, national and international programmes to continue. Should you like to hear more about our programmes or other activities please contact us at the Invercargill Service Centre.
