Did you know Whangarei isn't our official name?
The New Zealand Geographic Board has raised the question of just how many other cities and towns have been left in label limbo without an official name, so we checked.
It turns out, many have, including our own fair city of Whangarei. Was anyone else aware of this? What do you think? Should we use this chance to change our name?

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
