An invasion in Taranaki! ๐Ÿ‘พ๐ŸŒŠ

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

A sharp-eyed young Kiwi has spotted an unwelcome visitor, the invasive gold clam, in Lake Rotomanu. Because of this discovery, the lake and scenic reserve have had to close for now.

Why the big concern? These tiny clams can blanket river and lake beds, outcompete native species, clog important water infrastructure, and harm overall water quality.

A big shout-out to Max for helping protect our natural spaces! ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฟ

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, thereโ€™s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need ๐Ÿช™๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿช™

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship โ€” like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
