Fire Brigade warns of scammer
A scammer is calling around asking for donations for the Hāwera Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Chief fire officer Mike Fairweather says "This is a total scam and we have no association with it. We would never cold call people or door knock asking for money."
He says if you get a call from someone claiming to be from Hāwera Volunteer Fire Brigade looking for money, hang up immediately and don't provide any details.
