Celebrating Our Resident Authors On World Book Day

James Wattie Retirement Village

It was World Book Day on the 23rd of April, so what better time to celebrate some of our talented residents who have published books.

They range from children’s books, to poems, from non-fiction to a first novel - and all are proof that there is no age limit when it comes to creativity!

Poll: Have you ever been bullied?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

People associate bullying with children in schools, but it can actually stretch beyond childhood to workplaces or neighbourhoods.

This Friday is Pink Shirt Day, which began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a new student was harassed for wearing pink. People across the globe are now encouraged to wear pink on this day to take a stand against bullying and promote inclusivity.

Have you or your whānau ever experienced bullying? Share your thoughts on Pink Shirt Day below.

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.

Books wanted

Julie Neighbourly Lead from Havelock North

Does anyone have any Alexandre Dumas books they don’t want anymore?
I absolutely love the stories but have only experienced them on screen. Especially The Three Musketeers. I’ve just binge watched the latest series for the second time in 2 months.

Communications from Hastings District Council

Resurfacing of the Porter Drive/Te Aute Road roundabout and then Porter Drive/Middle Road intersection in Havelock North is scheduled to be completed over 3 days, Monday 20 May - Wednesday 22 May.

All work will be completed between the hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm. During this time, traffic will be detoured safely around the site and delays are to be expected. See detour maps below.

We would appreciate it if the roadway could be kept clear of any parked vehicles while the crew is onsite working.
