Fundraiser Aug 30th "The Rescued Plate"

I thought up and started the food rescue group Nourished for Nil 18 months ago based in Hastings, Karamu rd. I began this, now rather ambitious, endeavour because I shuddered at the thought of what cafes did with leftover food at the end of each business day. I had read about people starting food rescue programs in France and America and that they were not only successful but also helped families who struggled with food security. I met a woman who started a food rescue in Palmerston North (Just Zilch) and was inspired to try it here! Anyway, long story short, Nourished for Nil has been running great guns here in our very own backyard now since Feb 2017. Our motto is Food Rescue, we aren't a foodbank so we aren't worried who comes to collect the food during our redistribution hour each day 430-530pm, because it would only go to waste otherwise. No conditions, no forms, no questions. Everyone is welcome!

We achieved charitable status this past June and just this week were able to employ our first full time employee (an amazing woman who has been on a benefit for years!) thanks to some seriously generous sponsorship!

Im posting here because we holding our Second Annual Fundraiser called The Rescued Plate, www.facebook.com... on Thursday August 30th at the Hastings Art Gallery from 6 to 730pm. Last years fundraiser was a HUGE success because we secured 3 sponsors who have since agreed to pay the rent of the building we are in and because the Clearview Estate Winery owner
www.clearviewestate.co.nz... came along and offered to host this year's event!
We were so rapt. So this month's fundraiser (all proceeds going to the continued running of Nourished for Nil ), will cost $50 a head and Clearviews head chef Peter Hallgarth will create delicious finger foods from only rescued food, plus generously donated Clearview wines will be available as well Brave Brewery beer to everyone. bravebrewing.co.nz.... We will also feature our latest 'day in the life' video shot by the talented local photographer Richard Brimmer, and auction a piece of donated art by www.mauriciobenega.com... also a Hawkes Bay artist.

I would like to invite everyone along for a great evening of getting to know more about what we do, how you can volunteer if it looks like your cup of tea, or donate to this worthy cause. Please pass this invite to anyone you think might be intersted!

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls

ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.

🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.

Remember, banks will:​​
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes​​
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device​​
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

If you have received a phone call and think your account has been compromised, call ASB on 0800 ASB FRAUD (0800 272 372), or visit your local branch.
