Roads update

Communications team from Hastings District Council

1.22pm: Update on snow impact on roads
TAIHAPE Rd remains closed today and will be closed overnight, from the Kaweka Forestry headquarters to the end of the road on the Rangitikei side. Residents are able to get to their homes beyond the closure however there is no access at all beyond the last home. The closure points are being manned during daylight hours.
POHOKURA Rd is closed from Lake Opouahe (Tutira) to Waitara Rd.
PUKETITIRI Rd is closed to all but residents at Hawkston Road intersection because of slippery surface driving conditions – light snow covering. The close point is being manned during the day.
NZTA's website continues to show that the Napier-Taupo Rd (SH5) is closed.
All road users are being advised to take extra care on all roads due to the winter conditions.
The next update will after 4pm; or if conditions change.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
