Red Cross Meals on Wheels Drivers Wanted
Hastings Meals on Wheels is currently looking for more friendly volunteer drivers to deliver meals in the Hastings and Havelock North areas. Starting in February 2022, the service is expanding with a need for new drivers. If this sounds like something you might like to get involved in, please get in touch to volunteer with us today!
New Zealand Red Cross is all about “good people doing good things” – and the Hastings Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers have been doing just that for 60 years.
The Hastings service started from humble beginnings in November 1961 when 24 hot meals were delivered each day by a small team of volunteers of the local Red Cross branch. It was through realising the plight of vulnerable people in our community that led the service to grow rapidly with more than 250 volunteers delivering meals during the 1980’s. Meals on Wheels in Hastings has a rich history of service and a deep connected to the community.
Today, the service spans across all of Hastings, Havelock North and Flaxmere, over 4,500 hot meals per month and in the last year 72,890 hot meals.

Poll: Is it rude to talk on the phone on a bus?
Buses can be a relaxing way to get home if you have a seat and enough space. However, it can be off-putting when someone is taking a phone call next to you.
