Well now you can - live, in your living room.

The Neighbourly team is super grateful to our friends at Royal New Zealand Ballet for their support over the years - so we're excited to be telling our Neighbourly members about their very special event: Live in your Living Room.

This weekend, grab a cuppa and some gingerbread and venture in to the dark, fantastical realm of Hansel & Gretel. Inspired by the old-fashioned magic of silent movies and music hall vaudeville, this ballet will transport you to a magical world with large-scale cinematic effects, world premiere choreography by Loughlan Prior and a specially commissioned score by Claire Cowan.

Live in your Living Room. This curated series of productions from the RNZB archive will be broadcast weekly on Facebook Premiere.

Enjoy performances at Friday 3 April at 7.30pm; Saturday 4 April at 1.30pm and Sunday 5 April at 10.30am.

Here's a fun way to keep kids busy for a while, and also to make a display of family or friends at a stressful time.
You need:
1 large sheet of card
several sheets of paper
scissors
glue
crayons, felt pens, or paint (or a mixture!)

On the cardboard, draw the outline of a peacock's body and legs - no tail. Keep it simple, and relatively small. You want most of the page for his tail.

On the sheets of paper, trace around hands - use as many family members and different size hands as possible. Left hands, right hands, big hands and little hands. You want as many hands as you want people on your 'tail', the more the better! Write the name of the person you want to remember on the hand, then colour it in. Be creative!

Cut out the hands, glue them to the sheet of cardboard to make the tail of the peacock.

Display it somewhere that you can all see and enjoy it :)

Post photos of your peacock on here so we can all see it :)

All Hastings District recycling services are on hold.
Please do not put recycling at your kerbside as it will not be collected (rubbish collection continues as normal).
Transfer stations are only open to existing commercial account holders and all recycling drop off points are closed.
We do appreciate your help managing recycling at this time. Our best advice is to store your clean recycling if you can do so safely. If not, we understand some people will need to put it out in their rubbish.
We are looking at what we can do when business resumes as normal to help with the safe and appropriate disposal of recycling.

Me and My wife walked around the Block and counted (Hunted) 9 Teddy bears in the windows. From large full window "bears" to Tiny corner of the window bears. I am sure my Grandchildren would appreciate more.
We saw other children (Staying safe 2-3 metres away) with their parents getting excited to spot yet "another one" . Great in our Parkvale area.!
(If you like, let me know your bear and I'll let my grandchildren Know!)
Boredom is going for a walk, FUN is going on a "BEAR HUNT"
Thanks

One expert believes it's the only way to get all the facts on the spread and the information that can give us a chance to eradicate the disease. I know the first response will be -"it would cost too much" - but that's not the issue. We have the NZDF able to go street by street, house by house, if necessary as long as we have enough test kits. The result would be able to find those with minor symptoms or those who are just carriers - what do you all reckon?

This week sees us all getting used to living at Alert Level 4. For this to work, we must all stick to the plan.

Stay home. It WILL save lives.
Let’s all remember why we are taking such extreme measures.
Staying home won’t always be easy. But the evidence tells us this is the best way to save the lives of other New Zealanders.

Finding our routines
It will take some time to build up new daily routines. That’s to be expected. We all need to be gentle with ourselves, and accept that things could be difficult for a while as we learn to adjust.

Looking after ourselves and others
Don’t forget to take time to look after yourself, and also to check-in on others. Asking someone how they are feeling is a good way to connect and show that you care.

We all need to stick to the plan
For this to work, and the effort we are all making to be worth it, we all need to stick to the plan, all the time. No exceptions.

Don’t move around
The virus is spread by us. So we all need to avoid moving around as much as possible. If you do go out for exercise or to get essential supplies, stay local. This is incredibly important. Don’t move between different areas.

Thank you for doing your bit
A massive thank you to everyone for working so hard to slow the spread of COVID-19. Together, we can and will save lives.
