Rant time

Julie Neighbourly Lead from Havelock North

Seriously, what is wrong with some people?!
I went to the supermarket tonight and was gobsmacked when I came out and found not one, but two, count ‘em, two big arse w*^k mobiles parked ACROSS the mobility parks. There were empty parks 10 steps away.

I knocked on the window of the first and pointed out “you’re parked across two mobility parks, you can’t do that.” The response “oh, is someone waiting to use them? I just sent my kids inside.” Seriously? The second woman just pulled forward to the spot the other one vacated, when I knocked on her window. WTF?!

I really don’t care if you can’t be bothered pulling into a park, legally, like a normal, reasonably considerate person. If you don’t need those parks, i.e you don’t have a mobility card, YOU DON’T PARK THERE! And you sure as hell don’t park right across them, blocking two parks, and even more you don’t pull up behind someone doing it and copy them, blocking the remaining parks.

My father has a mobility card, as do many people. They need those parks and they shouldn’t have to wait for you to move your vehicles, to be able to use them. It doesn’t matter if no one is waiting, or you’re only going to be a minute, or you sent someone in and are waiting for them to come out, or whatever your excuse
YOU DON’T PARK THERE!

Show some consideration, some decency and social conscience, and stop teaching your kids how to be twats. Do the right thing, if you ever expect them to.

The same goes for the people who come to school and park in the mobility parks there. If you don’t have a mobility card, MOVE!

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
