Do you have kids in year 13?

Ken from Havelock North

Is your son or daughter planning to study Medicine, Dentistry or Physio next year?

Our son Michael completed year 13 at Havelock High in 2014, did First Year Health Sciences at the University of Otago in 2015 and is currently completing his third year at Otago Medical School. Throughout this year and last, he’s been providing tuition to First Year Health Science students. He’s enjoyed it and of course the bit of money he has made has been much appreciated. He’s keen to continue providing tuition over the coming Christmas break.

What he’s formulated is a tuition program designed to introduce year 13 students to the basic platform of human anatomy and physiology, whilst specifically focusing on material taught in their first semester. These topics are not really broached at all in high school, and it can come as a bit of shock in their first semester. The programme will run over four weeks, with a two hour session on the weekend and a weekly one hour session. Each session involves a structured tutorial with summary notes provided and a practice multi-choice questionnaire.

There’s no doubting I’m a proud Dad and maybe a little biased but I do feel Michael has this ability to really enthuse and motivate. I know he’ll pass on much needed knowledge but of equal importance he’ll give your son or daughter the confidence to commit 100% to what is a very competitive first year.

If you are interested you can message me via Neighbourly, call me (Ken) on 0274852010 or call Michael directly on 0273848611 (Michael’s email is michael.parsons97@gmail.com).

Thanks for reading, Regards Ken

The Reserve Bank has shared some pretty blunt advice: there’s no such thing as a “safe” job anymore 🛟😑

Robots are stepping into repetitive roles in factories, plants and warehouses. AI is taking care of the admin tasks that once filled many mid-level office jobs.

We want to know: As the world evolves, what skills do you think give a CV the ultimate edge in a robot-filled workplace?
