Makerspace for Flaxmere/Hastings
Here's my idea; a Maker Nest or Ohanga Mahi at the village (or in town), as an open space to sew/weave/build and sell products/produce. This could mean attending workshops and operating workstations in areas of interest; or working form home creating pieces that retail through the shop, and contributing a commission. This might require forming a committee, drafting an operational model (navigating healthsafety/consent), and networking partner organisations;
the Environment Centre is positive about branching, the HDC is open to planning a cultural development for the village, and nationally NZ is moving with legislative tools to fund community resource recovery facilities.
Who out there has time/interest to invest in something like this? Would our community benefit from this sort of facility? What do you think!
Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?
The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.
Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.
We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?

9.4% For. Self-service is less frustrating and convenient.

-
47.1% Against. I want to deal with people.

If a zookeeper had 100 pairs of animals in her zoo, and two pairs of babies are born for each one of the original animals, then (sadly) 23 animals don’t survive, how many animals do you have left in total?
