Alert Level 3 is a milestone in our struggle against COVID-19. We are all responsible for what happens next. Every contact we make is a chance for the virus to spread.

We could easily lose what we have gained. Our success, or failure, depends on the decisions that we’ll each make alone – but which in turn – will affect all of us.

Two weeks then a review
• On 11 May, we will review our progress and decide if we can safely continue to step down restrictions, or if more measures are required to protect us all.
• So the decisions we each make now, matter. Because every interaction we have is an opportunity for the virus to spread.

Keeping safe at Alert Level 3
• At Alert Level 3, the best way to keep those around you safe, is by keeping your bubble small. Interact with as few people as possible. Less people equals less risk. And continue to stay at home whenever you can.
• We should each be making the minimal number of trips. Be sure to stay local, and only make necessary trips.
• And importantly, work and learn from home if you can.

Let’s do this
We’re a team of 5 million. Formidable. And we can do this.
So thank you New Zealand for making the right decisions, when it really counts.

The Way it Was

Marie from Flaxmere

For weeks I have heard people saying “ I just can’t wait for things to be back to normal.” I remember even saying that more than a few times myself. But as I’ve thought about our current situation I have realised how much I don’t want things to go back to the way they were. Here are a few of my reasons...

1. I hope that the next time a friend grabs me and pulls me in for a hug, I actually take the time to appreciate the gift of their presence and embrace.

2. I hope that when school resumes and you are dropping your kids off, you take the time to thank the staff for the amazing gift that they give to your family.

3. I hope that the next time I’m sitting in a crowded restaurant I take the time to look around at the smiling faces, loud voices and be more appreciative of the gift of community.

4. I hope that when I am at the grocery store that I take a moment to acknowledge the necessities of life and the amazing people who work so hard to keep us supplied.

5. I hope that I never again take for granted the ability to hop in the car and visit a friend, go to the beach, a restaurant or a movie, etc.

So, truth is, I don’t want things to return to the way they once were. I hope and pray that we take the lessons and challenges of the past few weeks and create a new normal.

My goal is to appreciate more, love harder, and truly appreciate the daily abundance of blessings that were so easily overlooked just a few weeks ago. If someone tells you they love you, take it to heart❤

Good Morning

Marie from Flaxmere

💐Don't be upset and caught up with things or people you cannot change.
Instead, move on, let go and concentrate on what you can change.
Things that enhance your life.
You deserve to be happy. Good morning💐

Bit of Humour

Marie from Flaxmere

Coronavirus has turned us all into dogs. We roam the house all day looking for food. We're told 'no' if we get too close to strangers.

And we get really excited about car rides😂😂😂😂

Good Morning Neighbourly People

Marie from Flaxmere

🌞 New Morning

Every morning rings in a new day,
Every day rings in new hopes,
Every hope rings in new desires,
And every desire rings in a new life.
Every such thought renders a new feeling,
And a good feeling defines a newer YOU.
Good Morning 🌞

We moved here from Wanganui for my partners job and currently living with my mother in law.
My partner and I both work, we have two daughters age 5 and 8.
We have two small dogs and a cat, which makes finding a rental hard, but they are trained well behaved animals.
We were in our last rental in Wanganui for 7 years so have a reference. Also have a bond ready to go asap. Thanks

ANZAC Day will be marked a little differently this year. We’ll be warm and cosy at home and The Last Post won’t start until you press play. But one thing will be the same – remembrance.

To help us remember those who served and understand what ‘to serve’ meant, Ryman recorded their ANZAC resident’s stories. Some are humorous, others are tragic and eye-opening, but they all offer insight into the courage, bravery, and determination required to serve.

What better way to remember than to read the memories of those who were there?
