Coulter Bridge

Today I have written to the NZTA regarding the state of Coulter bridge crossing the Waihou River into Te Aroha, it is a real danger as far as the footpath is concerned. The concrete has worn away exposing very uneven surfaces and the expansion joints are also a significant trip hazard. The paint is well past its use-by date. It is an eyesore Council has brought it up at different times however like the Morrinsville Roundabout it seems like it is shouting into the wind. It is disgraceful allowing an expensive asset to deteriorate like this. As a gateway into Te Aroha, it paints an image that is not helpful in the promotion of the town as a tourist destination. The bridge is some 92 years old and right now it looks like it is twice that age. NZTA needs to pull finger and get on with repairing the footpath and maintaining the bridge rather than letting it deteriorate.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Have you come across many roadworks sites recently?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

The frustration of seeing a detour sign partway through your journey on the main highways possibly the new way forward when it comes to roadworks.

One of the latest areas to have a section of the road blocked off is State Highway 1 between Putāruru to Tokoroa as part of a massive renewal project that extends down to Waiouru.
