Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink

Paul from Morrinsville

A bit of an exaggeration I know, considering the wet December we had it seems impossible that we will have water restrictions but there it is. Niwa is predicting very little rain over the next few weeks. This means for Morrinsville and other towns that water restrictions will be coming. It is a timely reminder to limit your use of water before it gets really bad. remember also to have a store of water in case of a breakdown. Civil defence recommends 3 litres per person per day for 7 days as an absolute minimum. This does not include water for sanitary purposes, don't be caught out. When water systems are under pressure it is often when they break down. Here in Morrinsville there has been significant investment in increasing the resilience of our system, and there is ongoing work into finding alternative water.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
