Kia ora, neighbours! It's Plastic Free July, and many of you will be trying to nullify your plastic waste output this month in the interests of our environment. Some supermarkets are now selling "reusable" plastic bags, rather than single-use plastic bags, to put your groceries in. Nonetheless, they will still eventually deteriorate into plastic waste. As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
