Amid the heartbreak of a tragic ATV accident, the Schick family has transformed grief into generosity, raising more than $325,000 for the emergency services that rushed to their aid.
Waipā District mayor Susan O’Regan described the family’s response as “remarkable,” saying it is rare for anyone to find the strength to give back after such a personal loss.

Derelict Tokanui Hospital buildings will be demolished and contaminated land cleaned up so the site can be offered back to iwi.
