Our Community Tree Planting event will take place tomorrow (Sat 17 Aug) from 10:30-1:30pm, RAIN OR SHINE, so come prepared with appropriate rain gear and gumboots! We’ll have some marquees set up for lunch.

Hi neighbours - a section of Harwood St in the city centre will be closed today and tomorrow between the hours of 7am and 6pm.

Traffic will still be able to enter the northern end of Harwood St during the road closure period but will not be able to enter or exit through the southern end of London St.

A Traffic Management Plan will be in place to assist traffic and pedestrians, however motorists are encouraged to use alternative streets where possible.

The Government is giving a multi-million dollar funding boost for Rototuna Junior and Senior High Schools, but the principals say it isn't enough to support their burgeoning school-rolls.

Education Minister Chris Hipkins announced on Tuesday that the schools were receiving $16 million to cater for 500 extra students across the two schools.

But Rototuna Senior High School principal Natasha Hemara said the expansion falls short of what the schools need.

Dr Kevin Snee - the former boss of Hawke's Bay DHB - was formally welcomed to the Wailkato on Monday at Hamilton's Hui Te Rangiora Marae.
