Poll: Where do you stand on having Burger King and Starbucks in Tīrau?

Libby Reporter from Waikato Local

A battle is brewing between small town Waikato residents and big coffee as Starbucks eyes Tīrau for one of the country’s first drive-through venues outside Auckland.

But some locals don’t think the international coffee giant and a planned Burger King franchise are the right fit for the SH1 stop-off known for its boutique cafes, bespoke furniture shops and corrugated iron inspired art works.

Where do you stand on having Burger King and Starbucks in Tīrau? Tell us your reasons in the comments (adding NFP if you don't want your words used in print).

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
