I seek your support for WEL Energy Trust election
In 1986 I founded Houston Technology Group which designed the NZ Covid Tracer app before gifting the design to NZ (www.stuff.co.nz...). Today, we are still working hard to improve Kiwi lives through technology.
Born into poverty, this would not have been possible without NZ's generosity in allowing me to come to the Waikato in 1975.
I therefore seek re-election to WEL Energy Trust to continue paying back my debt.
Having been a trustee of Trust Waikato and WEL Trust for 11 years, a business owner of HTG for 37 years (and 8 years as a CA before then) I have the expertise to ensure that WEL Networks operates as a successful business and both the consumers and the community receive the maximum sustainable benefit from this $1.2b community asset.
I have been very fortunate to be joined by community and business leaders, Edgar Wilson, Natasha Harvey and Rachel Afeaki to form the MORE Discounts & Grants team.
Please visit www.MOREdiscountsandgrants.co.nz... to read about the $200m profit generated from WEL’s recent UFF sale and how the MORE Team plans to increase BOTH discounts and grants to help the entire community.
I will be very grateful if you would support us.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Leaving Neighbourly
Hey everyone, just a quick note to say I’m leaving Neighbourly. I joined because I thought it would be a good way to connect with people in the community, especially the older generation, and to receive advice, help, and shared knowledge.
Over time I’ve made quite a few posts genuinely looking for help or guidance, and unfortunately I’ve rarely received any responses. Most of the time it’s just one or two likes and no actual comments or help, which gets pretty discouraging after a while.
I understand people are busy, but when you consistently put things out there and hear almost nothing back, it starts to feel like there’s no real point in being part of the platform. Because of that, I’ve decided it’s best for me to move on.
No hard feelings — just not the right fit for me. Wishing everyone all the best.
